Courses Of Instruction

The College is a department of the Bombay City Ambulance Corps, a charitable society and public trust registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and the Bombay Public Trusts Act XXIX of 1950. It is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra in the Medical Education and Drugs Department.

- Specialist Instructors in First Aid

  • January to June / July to December (Including in-hospital training)
  • Graduates (preferred) with teaching aptitude
  • 1st to 25th December & 1st to 25th June for respective term
  • 300 marks of Theory and Practical. Minimum marks for passing : 70%
  • Issued to all successful participants

- Specialist Instructors in Home Nursing

  • January to June / July to December (Including in-hospital training)
  • Specialist Instructors in First Aid
  • 1st to 25th December & 1st to 25th June for respective term
  • 300 marks of Theory and Practical. Minimum marks for passing : 70%
  • Issued to all successful participants

- Basic Course in First aid

  • June-September / Or mutually agreed by the college and group of participants (Minimum 20)
  • IX Standard (command on English language)
  • 15th May to 10th June or as fixed for particular course.
  • 150 marks of Theory and Practical. Minimum marks for passing: 50%
  • Issued to all successful participants

- Condensed Basic Course in First aid

  • Ten Hours spread over 2/3 days. Mutually agreed by the college and group of participants (Minimum 20)
  • IX Standard (command on English language)
  • As fixed for particular course.
  • No Examination
  • Certificate of participation is issued if present for all 10 hours.

- Seminar on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

  • Four Hours. Mutually agreed by the college and group of participants (Minimum 20)
  • IX Standard (command on English language)
  • As fixed for particular course.
  • No Examination
  • Certificate of participation is issued if present for all 4 hours.

Specialist Instructor’s in Home Nursing

Subject Hours
Lectures: Principles of Nursing Care of a patient at home; the sick room; Observation (T.P.R. and B.P ) and comfort of the patient; the patient’s diet and toilet, the patient’s excretions; administration of drugs; nursing care of the infectious patient, unconscious patient, mentally ill patient, elderly patient, dying patient, and the sick child, surgical nursing, emergency childbirth, radiation sickness, nursing techniques and procedures. 25 Hours
Practical Work 18 Hours
Invalid Cookery 6 Hours
Written Tests 1 Hour
Basic Fire Fighting 10 Hours
In-Hospital Training and ward duty 10 Hours



Basic Course In First - Aid

Condensed Basic Course In First - Aid

A short introductory course in First Aid to the injured totaling ten hours spread over two/three days will be conducted for a group or organization on request to the commandant of the college. Certificate of attendance of the course will be awarded to participants who attend all the 10 sessions. Structure of the course is as under.

Requirements: All participants of FIRST AID course must have:


Triangular bandage: Take a Square Meter cloth and cut it diagonally to get two triangular bandages.
First aid Box
Bottle of Dettol Solution: 1 part Dettol and 20 parts of water/Savlon)
Surgical cotton
Gauze pieces
Antiseptic cream
2” Roller Bandages 6 Nos.
A pair of Scissors
One forceps

Jamsetji Tata Ambulance College one Day Seminars on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation


One day seminars on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation are conducted under the auspices of the Jamsetji Tata College run by the Bombay City Ambulance Corps at the address given below. The seminars are organised for a group or organization on request to the commandant of the college. Donations for the Free First Aid and Ambulance Service Station are accepted.


The Seminar of about 4 hours duration comprises of :

Introduction to Respiratory and Circulatory System.
Cardiac Arrest
Demonstration of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
Video on “CPR for bystanders”
Choking emergencies.
First Aid in Nutshell

Participants are required to practice CPR on Ambu simulator. Handout on CPR of about 8 pages is distributed to the participants of the seminar. Additional topic on “Advance Life Support” is discussed by eminent Cardiologist during such seminar specially organised for medics and paramedics. Certificate is issued to each participant for attending the CPR Seminar.
